Rod Cumming together with Heather Beaumont, Dave Cooper and Chris Cumming along with around 4,000 other competitors completed the Sheffield Half Marathon despite it’s cancellation due to health and safety worries over a lack of water!RJMS HCA Sheffield Half Marathon team

The elite runners ignored the loudspeaker message about cancelling the run and just ran round the police barriers and started anyway, as this message was not audible to the rest of the runners everyone else just followed!

Rod ran with two determined ladies from Dinnington who were supporting a charity to provide shelter for homeless teenagers. The ladies said they’d been training three times a week for a year, we’ve persuaded people to sponsor us and now they’re saying they’re cancelling the run because they couldn’t organise to get the water to the water stations in time. “We’re running anyway!”

People had travelled from as far as London especially to run the Half Marathon and had trained each week for the last year.

The Sheffield Public did us proud by buying water bottles and coming onto the streets to help us on our way.

We have two good friends with prostate cancer, what would they have said if we had given up? They keep fighting every day don’t they?

We all made it to the finish line and the good people of Sheffield cheered and supported us all the way!
