'A Bit of a Do' for one of our directors
( Return to main news )

Jun 30, 2014

On Saturday 14th June 2014 RJMS held ‘A bit of a Do’ for one of our Directors, Lizzie, who on Friday 6th June had retired from her employment as one of the key members of the Cataract Assessment Team (The ‘A’ Team) based in the Ophthalmic Department at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital. We couldn’t let the occasion pass without a party.

Lizzie had worked for the NHS for over 41 years, starting work when she was 17 at the Nuffield Orthopaedic centre in Oxford where she spent two happy years making many new friends. Four of those friends Heather, Joan, Christian and Mary came to the Party and stayed in Sheffield for Lizzie’s special birthday the following day, when the above photo was taken.

Some of the current Sheffield Ophthalmic Consultants had other commitments on the day and couldn’t be there for the re-union with former colleagues, but we were delighted that so many were able to join us.

Consultants who worked with Elizabeth when they were based in Sheffield, travelled all the way from Glasgow, Shropshire and York to join in the celebrations. About 80 of us had a really good night entertained by the Manchester Jazz 4 and Geoff Coates and his music.

It was a ‘Good Do’.
